
Women’s Swimming adds four more All-Americans in final day of NCAA Championships
Indianapolis, Ind. —- The Catawba College women's swimming team finished up the NCAA Division II National Championships in Indianapolis on Saturday, adding four more All-American performances for the week to complete the historic week at nationals for the program.
HOW IT HAPPENED
MORNING SESSION
100 Yard Freestyle Preliminaries
- Marit Reckmann earned her spot into the championship B final with a 50.18 swim in the 100 Freestyle preliminaries
- Eniko Onofer placed 30th with a mark of 50.98
200 Yard Breaststroke Preliminaries
- Gabi Moll placed 10th in the 200 Breaststroke prelims to earn a spot in the B final
- Sydney McKenzie was right behind her with a time of 2:16.48 to place 12th and also snag a spot in the championship final
EVENING SESSION
1650 Yard Freestyle
- Fiona Byrne added an All-American performance to the week, finishing 10th in the 1650 Free with a mark of 16:56.52
- Ella Gutenwik placed 28th with a time of 17:29.40
100 Yard Freestyle
- Reckmann added All-American status to her name with a 13th-place finish in the 100 Free, racing to touch the wall in 50.30
200 Yard Breaststroke
- McKenzie finished first in the championship B final in the 200 Breast, placing ninth overall with a mark of 2:15.79
- Moll earned an 11th-place finish with a time of 2:16.25 to add another All-American honor to the team for the week
400 Yard Freestyle Relay
- Catawba's 400 free relay team of Onofer, Reckmann, Marleen Plachetka and Sydney Peterson placed 15th in the week's final
STANDINGS UPDATE
- Catawba registered 102 points in the overall team championship race, finishing 14th overall, just 13 points behind SAC foe Wingate
