
#21 Women’s Swimming bounces back with Senior Day win over Barton
Salisbury, N.C. —- The 21st-ranked Catawba College women's swimming team returned to action at Johnson Pool, defeating visiting Barton 201-46 on Senior Day.
HOW IT HAPPENED
400 Yard Medley Relay
- Catawba's relay team of Ash Fortin, Sydney McKenzie, Sydney Peterson and Marit Reckmann finished first with a time of 3:50.48
1000 Yard Freestyle
- Jolina Franke won the 1000 Free with a time of 11:13.31
200 Yard Freestyle
- Catawba sophomore Ella Gutenwik earned the top time in the 200 Free with a time of 1:54.21
100 Yard Backstroke
- McKenzie earned her second win in four events with the 100 Back, with the lone sub-60 second time with a mark of 57.62
100 Yard Breaststroke
- Hannah Koopmans bested a short field in the 100 Breast with a 1:06.41 effort
200 Yard Butterfly
- Rebecca Possenti recorded a 2:07.71 in the 200 Fly, finishing ahead of her Barton competitor
50 Yard Freestyle
- Marleen Plachetka was the first to finish of an all-Catawba top-three, earning a win in the 50 Free with a time of 24.14
100 Yard Freestyle
- Brinkley Watson sprinted her way to a top finish in the 100 Free with a 52.94
200 Yard Backstroke
- Gabi Moll inched ahead of Fortin in the 200 Back with a 2:09.30 mark
200 Yard Breaststroke
- McKenzie picked up her third win of the afternoon in the 200 Breast, finishing nearly 10 seconds ahead of the rest of the pack with a 2:05.51 time
500 Yard Freestyle
- Possenti impressed again with a top finish in the 500 Free with a 5:16.36
100 Yard Butterfly
- Reckmann turned in another victory-worthy effort, this time in the 100 Fly, finishing in 58.70
400 Yard IM
- Senior Lillie Martin earned a win on her Senior Day in the 400 Yard IM, finishing sub-five minutes with a time of 4:58.31
200 Yard Freestyle Relay
- Catawba's women made it a clean 14-event sweep with a win in the 200 Free Relay behind the team of Watson, Reckmann, Plachetka and Peterson
