Herashchenko and Reckmann named WePlayed Sports SAC Swimmers of the Week

Rock Hill, S.C. —- Catawba freshman Nazar Herashchenko and junior Marit Reckmann were named WePlayed Sports South Atlantic Conference Swimmers of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday afternoon.

Herashchenko, a freshman from Dnipro, Ukraine, won the 1000 and 500 Freestyle events over Division I Queens on Friday afternoon, recording NCAA B-cut times in both events. His 4:30.30 time in the 500 Free broke a school record and is good for fourth in the country, while his 9:24.33 is good for fifth-best in the nation.

Reckmann, a junior from Nienhagen, Germany, was a part of a school record-breaking 200 Yard Medley Relay. She also finished second in the meet against Queens in the 50 Free and 100 Free, recording the fastest times in the conference this season in both events. Her 23.47 time in the 50 Free ranks third in the country and her 52.17 ranks 12th in the nation.

Catawba Men's and Women's Swimming were both ranked in the national top 25 this week, the first time both have been nationally ranked at the same time in program history. Both women (21) and men (25) earned their highest national rankings in program history.

Catawba Swimming is back in action next week, traveling to SAC foe Wingate for a 4 p.m. start on Friday, Nov. 1
