
Celis, Franke earn WePlayed Sports SAC Swimmers of the Week nods
Rock Hill, S.C. —- Catawba Swimming senior Juan Celis and junior Jolina Franke were named the WePlayed Sports South Atlantic Conference Swimmers of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday morning.
Celis was a winner in three events in Catawba's 150-75 win over Lenoir-Rhyne back on Dec. 17, earning individual wins in the 50 Freestyle and 100 Freestyle as well as being a part of the victorious 400 Free Relay team. The Barranquilla, Colombia native swam a 21.52 in the 50 Free and a 46.89 mark in the 100 Free.
Franke was victorious in two individual events on Dec. 17, finishing first in the 1000 Freestyle and the 200 Butterfly in the Catawba Indians' 150-63 win over LR. The Langenhagen, Germany product raced to a time of 11:20.65 in the 1000 Free and a 2:19.55 in the 200 Butterfly.
Celis and Franke are the fifth and sixth different Catawba swimmers to earn SAC Swimmer of the Week honors this season. Each of the SAC Swimmers of the Week this season have been from Catawba or Wingate.
The Catawba Indians return to action this week, traveling to Division I Gardner-Webb for a dual meet on Friday, Jan. 10 at 2 p.m.
