McKenzie, Minichowski sweep WePlayed Sports SAC Swimmers of the Week

Rock Hill, S.C. —- For the second time this season, Catawba Swimming swept both WePlayed Sports South Atlantic Conference Swimmers of the Week honors, as Sydney McKenzie and Maks Minichowski earned the nod this week.

McKenzie, a junior from Monument, Colo., won the 200 IM in the dual meet at 5th-ranked Wingate on Friday. The University of Wyoming transfer broke the school record with a time of 2:06.50, setting the fastest mark in the SAC in the process.

She went on to finish first in the 100 Back, 200 Breast and the school-record setting 400 Medley Relay in 21st-ranked Catawba's win over Barton on Senior Day on Saturday.

Minichowski, a sophomore from Lomianki Dolne, Poland, won two events on Friday in the dual meet versus 7th-ranked Wingate, setting SAC-leading times in the 50 Free (20.56) and 100 Free (44.81).

The reigning SAC Men's Swimmer of the Year later broke his own conference-best time in the 50 Free the next day vs. Barton with a mark of 20.44. Like McKenzie, Minichowski was also a member of a program record-setting 400 Medley Relay team in the 25th-ranked Catawba Indians' win over Barton on Saturday.

Catawba is back in the pool on Thursday, Nov. 21, kicking off the four-day Fall Frenzy hosted by Queens University of Charlotte.
