
#6 Women’s Tennis earns first NCAA Tournament win in 24 years with sweep of Erskine
Winston-Salem, N.C. —- The 6th-ranked Catawba College women's tennis team swept 8th-seed and 44th-ranked Erskine on Monday in a 4-0 sweep, earning the program's first NCAA Tournament since 2001 at the Wake Forest Tennis Indoor Facility. The Catawba Indians improve to a perfect 23-0 on the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
DOUBLES
- Lili Drukerova and Ami Miya earned a 6-3 victory in the top-ranked doubles match
- Rin Igarashi and Sofia Antolini clinched the doubles point with a 6-4 victory in the #2 doubles match
SINGLES
- Antolini sped to a 6-0, 6-2 victory in the top-ranked singles match in 47 minutes
- Drukerova followed suit soon after with a 6-1, 6-2 victory at #4 singles
- Miya clinched the match with a 6-2, 6-1 victory at #3 singles
GAME NOTES
- Catawba Women's Tennis now holds the longest win streak of any college tennis program across all divisions – men or women
