
#6 Women’s Tennis claims first outright SAC regular season title in program history with Senior Day win over TU
Salisbury, N.C. —- The 6th-ranked Catawba College women's tennis team swept Tusculum on its Senior Day at the Johnson Tennis Courts on Saturday, clinching its first outright South Atlantic Conference title with a perfect 12-0 record in league play and an unbeaten 20-0 overall mark.
HOW IT HAPPENED
DOUBLES
- Lili Drukerova and Ami Miya picked up a 6-4 victory in the #1 ranked doubles pair
- Senior Matilde Moretti and Sofia Antolini helped clinch the doubles point with a 6-4 win at the #2 position
SINGLES
- Senior Vaishnavi Venkatesh earned a 6-2, 6-0 win against TU's #4 opponent
- Rin Igarashi followed with a 6-0, 6-2 win at #5s
- Moretti made it a 2-0 day with a 6-0, 6-2 victory at #6s to help clinch the match
- Top-ranked Antolini led 6-3, 3-0 at the clinch point
- Anna Wise was up 6-3, 3-1 at #2s
- Miya took a 6-1, 3-1 lead on her opponent when the match ended at #3s

- Catawba earns the top seed in next week's SAC Tournament, they'll face 8-seed Anderson on Wednesday at 9 a.m. in the quarterfinal round
