HOW IT HAPPENED
First Set
- A tight start began to open up when Taylor Hills connected on back-to-back kills, creating a 12-8 lead for Coker
- Side-out kills by Wattles and Sofia Beard plus a Gonzales service ace hindered the Cobras' attempt to slip away
- Two big kills from Clark narrowed the deficit to 18-16 before a Love dart two rallies later moved the score to 19-17
- Off-target Catawba touches late in the stanza allowed Coker to wrap up set No. 1, 25-21
Second Set
- Bodell paired with Clark and Wattles to stop two Alyssa Carey spikes in the early going
- A couple of Wattles kills and one by Moffett gave Catawba a multi-point, 6-4 lead
- Carey found openings in the blue and white's defense while MJ Hurd and Laila Hixon dropped in aces, stretching the Coker edge up to seven at 22-15
- Love played a major role in the resistance with a trio of kills in the last eight rallies, but the Cobras persisted for a 25-19 triumph
Third Set
- Cayla Gilmore and Kailyn Ivey shared a block in the opening rally as Gilmore ripped kills for the ensuing two points, leading off a hot start for Coker
- A solo block and kill from Love, as well as a bullseye by Lillie Kate Rogers, made up a Catawba comeback effort
- Each Catawba side-out kill was met with multiple Coker points, a main cause being Ivey flying around for four block assists in the last half of the set
- Gonzales leapt for a block then slammed a kill on match point, prolonging the frame until Carey finished a volley by Hixon to the finishing touch on a 3-0 Cobra win
