
PREVIEW: Women’s Volleyball aims to complete season sweep against Coker
SALISBURY, N.C. – The Catawba College women's volleyball team is setting up for its second battle with the Coker Cobras on Wednesday night at Goodman Arena.
Over the Weekend
- Catawba is coming off a pair of defeats to national vote-receiving Lenoir-Rhyne and Limestone
- Lauren Bodell led the offensive charge with a combined .135 hitting percentage including 14 kills
- Sofia Beard paced the squad in kills per set at 3.25 on an even .000 percentage
- Haley Moffett dished out 43 assists with 18 digs at setter while Riley Hill collected 38 digs and six assists at libero
- At the net, Katie Clark recorded six blocks with five solos, four of which occurred at Limestone to set the team's individual season high
Team Leaderboard
- Another strong pair of matches for Kelcie Love kept the junior outside hitter in the squad's kills lead, hammering 137 this season for a 2.28 per-set average
- Clark maintains the top slot in blocking with 37 total stops while adding 73 kills in the middle
- Hill's 293 digs leads the Catawba Indians while she also boasts a team-high 16 service aces, surpassing her mark of 12 as a rookie in 2023
- Moffett paces Catawba in assists with 279, slightly ahead of Sydney McCutcheon's 267
Last Dance with Coker
- Catawba snagged its first league triumph of the year at Coker on Oct. 4 in a gritty 3-2 win
- In her collegiate debut, Lillie Kate Rogers stole the show with 18 kills and 13 digs while providing pivotal points in the fourth and fifth sets
- Moffett also had a double-double in the contest, amassing 29 assists and 14 digs
- The matchup was high-flying with the Catawba Indians setting season highs of 64 kills, 206 attacks, 62 assists, and 113 digs
All-Time Series
- The blue and white are 23-4 in matches against the Cobras with seven straight victories
- Before battling Catawba to five sets on Oct. 4, Coker had fallen via sweep in six consecutive matches
- Since 2013, when Catawba and Coker became South Atlantic Conference foes, the Cobras are winless at Goodman Arena with 10 losses including eight sweeps
- The last triple-double in Catawba history was recorded by Rachel Stanford against Coker on Nov. 7, 2017 when she tallied 18 kills, 20 assists, and 15 digs
Scouting the Cobras
- Coker comes to Salisbury with a 3-16 record including SAC wins over Limestone and Newberry

- Freshman right-side hitter Cayla Gilmore tops the Cobras with 196 kills as senior Taylor Hills has 179 kills from the outside while hitting a team-best .182
- Laila Hixon and Maddy Roberts have split setting duties at 335 and 299 assists, respectively
- Rookie Kailyn Ivey holds the team-high blocking total with 69 stops, featuring 21 solo denials
