HOW IT HAPPENED

First Set

- The squads were neck-and-neck until Newberry pulled out to an 8-5 lead

- Misra supplied a trio of kills to combat the hosts, reducing the gap to 14-12

- Kelcie Love chipped in two darts to keep proceedings close but the Wolves forced immediate side-outs on both

- Four consecutive points helped Newberry reach set point as Emma Christensen applied the decider to secure a 25-18 triumph

Second Set

- Errant Catawba attacks and Samantha Shaffer kills early on allowed the Wolves to develop a 9-3 advantage

- Beard kills intertwined with Newberry tallies kept the difference at six points, 13-7

- The Wolves' lead expanded to 21-9 as a result of Catawba miscues

- Not including the two points provided by Beard, who finished with five of Catawba's eight kills in the stanza, the blue and white offense was suppressed as Newberry moved one set closer to victory

Third Set

- The Catawba Indians started the third frame strong with Hill and Beard acing serves and the Wolves suffering from errors

- After Newberry tied the set at 9-all, Danielson tacked on two kills and McCutcheon found paydirt to force the hosts to call their first timeout of the match

- Gaffes from both teams kept the score even, reaching 18-18

- Lengthy service periods from Kate Brown and Katy Morrison were interrupted by Danielson strikes before Shaffer knocked in match point to finalize the contest
