
Jones, Clay & Porter Punch their ticket to the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships
Indianapolis, Ind. -- Three athletes will represent Catawba & Field at the 2024 NCAA Division II Outdoor National Championship set for May 23-25 in Emporia, Kansas hosted by Emporia State University. Catawba will be represent in two events on the national stage.
Madi Clay and Mikayla Jones will compete in the women's 10000m race on night one of the meet.
Clay will be competing at her second NCAA Outdoor Championship. The sophomore finished 14th at last year's championship and enters with the sixth best time in the field. Earlier this month at the SAC Outddor Championships Clay was crowned the SAC Champion in the event.
Mikayla Jones will make her first outdoor championship apperance. The Aurora, Ohio native, enters with the tenth best time in the field and is coming off a SAC Outdoor 5K first place finish.
Junior Winfred Porter will compete in the men's 100m dash for Catawba. Prelims are scheduled for day one of the opening meet. Finals are set for Saturday on the final day of action. Porter of Loxahatchee, Fla., is seeded eleventh based on his fastest time of 10.24 that he ran this past Sunday in one last tuneup before nationals. Porter placed third at the SAC Outdoor Championships earlier this month in the event.
