3 SAC Champions Crowned as Catawba places fifth at the SAC Outdoor Championships

Hickory, N.C. -- Catawba Women's Track collected a total of five Podium finishes. Three SAC Champions were crowned along with two runner-up finishes at the end of the year meet. The distance team led the way for the Catawba women to finish fifth at this year's 2024 championship.

 

FULL SAC CHAMPIONSHIP RESULTS

 

Junior Mikayla Jones won the 5000m event with a time of 17:24.79. Jones of Aurora, Ohio would also go on to place sixth in the 1500m event with a time of 4:41.37.

 

Raina Andrews, a senior from Rock Hill, S.C., was crowned the SAC Champion in the 1500m race with a time of 4:35.16

 

Madi Clay won the women's 10000m event defending her 2023 championship crown by running a 35.50.71. Clay would secure her second medal of the weekend placing second in the 5000m event with a time of 17:28.96.

 

Carmen Bishop was the runner-up in the women's javelin with a throw of 41.40m securing eight points for Catawba. Bishop continued her run of set and breaking her own school record in the event.

 

Mallory Witherspoon placed eighth in the women's 100m dash recording a time of 12.24

  

Efe Egberi represented Catawba in the women's 200m dash coming in fifth place running a

24.66

 

Hannah Caudill would bring home seventh place in the women's 10000m scoring additional points for Catawba behind the Clay first place finish.
