Mikayla Jones earns WePlayed Sports Athlete of the Week honors

Rock Hill, S.C. — Catawba junior Mikayla Jones earned WePlayed Sports South Atlantic Conference Athlete of the Week honors, the league office announced Tuesday morning. 

Jones broke two school records this past Saturday at the Liberty Open hosted by Liberty University. Jones, an Aurora, Ohio native, placed third in the women's 1 mile run with a time of 5:02.61 to set the new school record. The next school record would fall in the women's 3000. Jones would place second in the event with a time of 9:55.00. A time not only five seconds better than the previously held record, but a NCAA mark in the event as well.
