PREVIEW: #21 Women’s Soccer preps for Homecoming date with E&H

Salisbury, N.C. —- The 21st-ranked Catawba College women's soccer team looks to get back in the win column on Saturday, as the team prepares for a rare home game over Homecoming versus Emory & Henry at 1 p.m. at Frock Field.

 

THE MATCHUP

Who: Emory & Henry (5-5-1, 2-4-0 SAC) at #21 Catawba (7-1-4, 5-0-2 SAC)

Where: Frock Field, Salisbury, N.C.

When: Saturday, Oct. 19, 1 p.m.

THE HISTORY

- Catawba leads all-time series 2-0

- The Catawba Indians won the lone meeting in Salisbury, 7-0

- Emory & Henry joined the SAC prior to the 2022-23 season

 

CONTROLLING YOUR OWN DESTINY

- Despite currently sitting in a tie for third place, Catawba still controls its destiny in its quest for an outright SAC regular season title

- Wingate, who forced a scoreless draw with Catawba on Wednesday, sits two points ahead, but has played an extra SAC game; Lenoir-Rhyne, who is also two points ahead, hosts Catawba in the regular season finale on Nov. 6

- If Catawba wins its final four SAC regular season games, the Catawba Indians would be SAC regular season champions

 

CONTAINING CHARLOTTE'S WEB

- Emory & Henry's Charlotte Stavis leads the SAC in shots attempted by an eight-shot margin with 55 on the season

- By comparison, Catawba's leading shot-taker Bree Ehmer, has attempted 40 shots this season

- The Mallard Creek HS native's five goals, three assists and 13 points more than doubles the next most on E&H's roster

 

DYNAMIC DUO

- Ehmer and Kylie Morin both rank in the top four in the SAC with seven and six goals scored, respectively

- Both have not scored in the same game since Sept. 21

- Catawba as a team ranks first in the conference with 29 goals scored

 

SCOUTING THE WASPS

- The Wasps currently rank on the outside looking in for the SAC Tournament, sitting in solo ninth place

- Emory & Henry upended Carson-Newman 2-0 at home; Catawba drew 2-2 with Carson-Newman earlier this year

- E&H's other SAC win this year came in the SAC opener, 2-1, vs. Anderson

- This game begins a stretch of four road games in the Wasps' final five SAC games
