
#17 Women's Soccer blitzes Anderson in first half en route to fourth straight win
Anderson, S.C. —- The 17th-ranked Catawba College women's soccer team scored four first-half goals in its 5-1 win at Anderson on Saturday evening, earning its fourth straight SAC win of three or more goals.

INDIVIDUAL LEADERS
- Callie Hammond netted two first-half goals
- Lillie Rusher scored a goal and recorded an assist
- Alexah Fite had the game-winner in the second minute
- Kelly Havens put her fourth goal of the season in the back of the net

- Ashley Hughes earned the win in goal, recording three saves
- Ali Skinner and Summer Ward forced the Trojans' keeper into saves
HOW IT HAPPENED
FIRST HALF
- Fite lofted a high-arching shot into the top corner for her first goal of the season in the second minute for the eventual game-winner
- Anderson answered with a shot on target from Carly Keuffer, but Hughes stepped up for the save
- Catawba drew a penalty in the 14th minute and Rusher converted for her second penalty-kick score of the season
- Hammond stole the ball off a touch from the Anderson keeper and poked in a goal in the 22nd minute
- The Trojans' efforts to get on the scoresheet were stopped by Hughes with saves in the 29th and 30th minutes
- Hammond netted in another score off of a Rusher assist for a first-half brace, leading Catawba to its largest halftime lead of the season, 4-0
SECOND HALF
- Catawba added to its lead in the first six minutes of the second half, as Havens scored off a rebound in the 51st minute
- Anderson's Madison Bowling responded with its lone goal of the evening in the 60th minute
- The Trojans' Macy McDufford made five saves the rest of the way, but was able to hold Catawba out of the back of the net for nearly the final 40 minutes; Catawba did not concede a shot on goal in the second half en route to three points on the road
