PREVIEW: #9 Women’s Soccer takes show on road at LMU

Harrogate, Tenn. —- The 9th-ranked Catawba College women's soccer team hits the road for the first time this regular season, continuing South Atlantic Conference action at Lincoln Memorial Saturday afternoon.

- Who: #9 Catawba (2-0-3, 0-0-1 SAC) at Lincoln Memorial (1-2-1, 0-0-1 SAC)

THE HISTORY

- Catawba leads the all-time series 12-6-5

- Catawba has won the last three in the series and the last four regular season meetings

- The Catawba Indians are 5-3-1 in Harrogate

- Catawba has won each of the last three meetings at LMU, including a 5-0 victory for then-8th-ranked Catawba, backed by Helen Summerell's hat trick

 

STOUT SCHEDULES

- Both Catawba and LMU have packed the early portion of their regular season schedule

- Per Massey Ratings, Catawba has played four opponents currently ranked in the top 100 in the country

- LMU has faced four of the five highest ranked teams in the region in each of their last four games (L, 0-3 at #17 Columbus State; T, 1-1 vs. #3 Lenoir-Rhyne; L, 2-4 vs. North Georgia)

 

TRIO OF TIES

- Catawba has drawn in each of their last three matches

- The 2-2 tie vs. Carson-Newman on Wednesday was the team's first draw in conference play since drawing with the Eagles in October 2022

- Catawba has not had more than three ties in a season since 2006

- The Catawba Indians are undefeated through five regular season games for the third consecutive full season

 

SIZZLIN' SUPER SENIOR

- Grad student midfielder Kylie Morin has already scored three goals for the Catawba Indians this season, matching her total in 22 games during the 2023 season

- The Concord, N.C. native currently ranks in a tie for second in league play in goals scored this season

 

CLEAN LOOKS

- Two of Catawba's ties in this recent stretch came on each of the opponents' shots on goal in the match

- West Virginia State faced a 1-1 draw after finding the back of the net one of just three shots in the game and the only to land on target; Wednesday's 2-2 draw against Carson-Newman came as a result of the Eagles' lone two shots of the afternoon earning scores

- Catawba currently ranks at the bottom of the SAC with seven saves through five games this season

 

SCOUTING THE RAILSPLITTERS

- LMU enters Saturday's showdown in a tie for third in the league standings along with Catawba with one point secured through one match

- The Railsplitters drew with 3rd-ranked Lenoir-Rhyne at home on Saturday the 14th

- Victoria Filsner headed scored the opening goal on a corner kick in the 76th minute, but the Bears responded with the equalizer just four minutes later

- Bente Latenstein was impressive for the Railsplitters, racking up 12 saves on the afternoon

- LMU has scored four goals on the season, each of which coming by result of a different player
