
Women’s Golf records seventh-place finish in St. Simons Intercollegiate
ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. – The Catawba College women's golf team placed seventh in the St. Simons Intercollegiate as proceedings wrapped up Tuesday afternoon.
Maddy Vogan posted the squad's best third round with a 78, carding a consistent 80-80-78 (236, +20) to finish T-24th. Mary-Paige King tied for 15th place among 73 finishers, her third straight top-half placement this season, while totaling 229 shots (+13). Rachel Carlson logged a final score of 243 (+27) which landed T-41st in the field.
Emily Rosenschein rounded out the team scorers with her 246-stroke (+30) performance to bag T-52nd place. Valentina Moran beat her lowest 54-hole score using a 257 (+41) while tying for the 63rd spot. Hannah Waddell closed out the event with two rounds in the 80s, posting a 266 (+50) in her first career outing.
The Catawba Indians concluded the trip at a 954 (+90), slipping into seventh place ahead of in-state foe UNC Pembroke by two shots.
Henriette Stranda (214, -2) and Stella Jelinek (217, +1) gave Flagler a one-two finish as all five of the program's representatives placed in the top 10, leading the Saints to the team championship. South Atlantic Conference member and event host Lincoln Memorial took the runner-up slot as Mount Olive filled the final spot on the podium.
Catawba hits the links for one last fall tournament on Oct. 21 and 22 at the Nemacolin Intercollegiate in Farmington, Pa.
