PREVIEW: Women’s Basketball looks to complete homestand sweep vs. E&H

Salisbury, N.C. —- The Catawba College women's basketball team looks to make it a clean sweep of their three-game homestand with the finale on Saturday, hosting Emory & Henry at 5 p.m. inside Goodman Arena in South Atlantic Conference women's basketball action.

THE HISTORY

- Catawba leads the all-time series 3-0

- The Catawba Indians won the lone matchup in Salisbury last season

- Last year's win in Goodman Arena was a 90-60 win on Senior Day

 

THE FOS-KEY TO VICTORY

- Janiya Foskey led the team in scoring in the win over Lenoir-Rhyne on Wednesday, recording a team-high in points for the second time this season

- She's recorded double figures four times in the last five games, while also averaging 10 rebounds across those four games; her 7.3 boards is good for top 10 in the SAC

- Foskey has been efficient at all levels, shooting 53 percent from the field and 87.5 percent from the foul line so far this season

 

HOME COURT ADVANTAGE

- Catawba has won 32 consecutive regular season games inside Goodman Arena

- Their lone loss since February 2022 at home was in the NCAA Tournament last season

- SAC opponents are 0-22 against Catawba in Salisbury in that span

 

SEEKING 100 FOR MAC

- With a win, Terence McCutcheon would claim his 100th career victory as Catawba head women's basketball coach

- Coaching in his 129th game on Saturday, he would be the fastest to reach 100 career wins in program history

- In just his fifth full season as head coach, McCutcheon has earned two SAC Coach of the Year honors and led the Catawba Indians to two regional hosting duties, including the 2023 NCAA Division II Southeast Regional title

 

SCOUTING THE WASPS

- The Wasps will be searching for their first win in SAC play, having started the season 0-5 in conference play, which coincides with their active five-game skid

- Emory & Henry rosters the leading scorer in the conference, as Breanna Yarber is scoring 18 points per game for the Wasps this season

- She dropped a season-high 37 points in the second game of the season vs. Southern Wesleyan on 11-of-19 shooting

- The junior has missed three of her last six games, but has played in both of the last two
