PREVIEW: Women’s Basketball returns from Thanksgiving break to face LMU in SAC home opener

Salisbury, N.C. —- The Catawba College women's basketball team returns to Goodman Arena on Saturday following Thanksgiving following a three-game road trip to start South Atlantic Conference play, taking on Lincoln Memorial.

- Catawba leads the all-time series 20-15

- The Catawba Indians are 13-4 inside Goodman Arena in the series

- Catawba has won the last seven in the series over LMU

 

TOUGH OPENING SAC SLATE

- Catawba plays in just its first home game of SAC play in its fourth game

- The Catawba Indians have already faced the top two teams in the league's preseason poll on the road

- Lincoln Memorial marks three of the top six in the league's preseason poll played for Catawba in just their first four games

 

NEW SCORING LEADERS

- With the graduation of over half of the team's scoring from a year ago, Catawba has many underclassmen leading the team in scoring

- Freshman Bailee Goodlett leads the team among newcomers with 10 points per game on a team-leading 9.5 shot attempts per game

- Sydney Gueterman led the team in scoring in both the Anderson and Carson-Newman games, scoring 13 points in the fourth quarter alone to help propel the Catawba Indians past Anderson on Nov. 20

 

NALA-LA-LA-LA LA-LA-LA-LA

- Senior Nala Baker dropped a career-high 26 points in the team's last outing at UVA Wise

- The Pensacola, Fla. native shot 10-of-15 from the field and 3-for-6 from three-point range

- Baker became the first player on the current Catawba roster to score more than 25 points in an NCAA collegiate game

 

SCOUTING THE RAILSPLITTERS

- LMU came out victorious by at least nine points in both of their first two SAC contests, defeating Newberry at home and Mars Hill on the road

- The Railsplitters went 1-2 in three season-opening non-conference games against Conference Carolinas opponents, defeating Converse, but falling to King and Belmont Abbey

- The team rosters three upperclassmen with at least 10 points per game in returners Matty Tanner and Alexa Smiddy along with Lipscomb transfer Kamil Collier

- Jamyah Winter came off the bench for a career-high 22 points in the win over Mars Hill after recording two scoreless minutes in the previous victory over Newberry

- Catawba continues its three-game homestand on Wednesday, Dec. 4, facing their fourth top-six opponent in the SAC preseason poll in five league games in Lenoir-Rhyne at 5:30 p.m.
