
#12 Men’s Tennis remains perfect in SAC play, cruises to win at LR
Hickory, N.C. —- The 12th-ranked Catawba College men's tennis team improved to a perfect 9-0 in South Atlantic Conference with a convincing win over a top-half Lenoir-Rhyne team on Saturday in Hickory.
HOW IT HAPPENED
DOUBLES
- Mateo Berne and Sebastian Zabala earned a 6-3 win in the #3 doubles match
- Thomas Kostka and Alessandro Valletta helped clinch the doubles point with a 6-4 victory in the #2s match
- Luca Bergonzi and Agustin Mastri led 5-3 in the top-ranked doubles match at the clinch point
SINGLES
- Kostka remained unbeaten in singles play this season with a 6-2, 6-4 victory in #2s
- Ryosuke Inagawa provided a boost in the #5s match with a 6-4, 6-2 win
- Berne helped clinch the match with a straight-set 6-4, 6-4 victory at #3s
- Mastri led 1-0 in the decisive third set in the top-ranked match when the clinch point was met
- Valletta took the win in the opening set of #6s
