
SAC leader #19 Men’s Tennis rolls to win at Mars Hill
Mars Hill, N.C. —- The 19th-ranked Catawba College men's tennis team improved their perfect mark in South Atlantic Conference play to 7-0 on Saturday with a road victory over Mars Hill.
HOW IT HAPPENED
DOUBLES
- Thomas Kostka and Alessandro Valletta rolled to a 6-1 victory in the #2 doubles matchup
- Mateo Berne and Sebastian Zabala earned a tiebreak victory to take the match 7-6 to earn the doubles point
SINGLES
- Kostka continued his unbeaten record in singles play this season with a quick 6-1, 6-0 win against the Lions' #2 opponent
- Agustin Mastri picked up a 6-2, 6-2 victory in the top-ranked singles match
- Ryosuke Iganawa helped clinch the match with a 6-1, 6-3 victory in the 5th-ranked singles match
- Luca Bergonzi was nearing a win in his #4s match, leading 6-3, 5-4
- Valletta won his opening set in #6s 6-3 and led the second 4-2 when the clinch point was reached
