
#20 Men’s Tennis earns statement win over #18 LMU to move to 4-0 in SAC play
Salisbury, N.C. —- In a matchup of two top-20 ranked teams in the South Atlantic Conference, the 20th-ranked Catawba College men's tennis team earned a statement conference win over 18th-ranked Lincoln Memorial at the Johnson Tennis Courts on Saturday.
HOW IT HAPPENED
DOUBLES
- Marcos Castares and Thomas Kostka earned a 6-2 win at the #2 doubles position
- Mateo Berne and Sebastian Zabala helped clinch the doubles point with a 6-2 win in the #3 position
- Agustin Mastri and Luca Bergonzi led 5-3 at the doubles clinch point
SINGLES
- Kostka earned a sweep victory to keep his undefeated mark this season in singles play, defeating LMU's #2 ranked opponent 6-1, 6-2
- Castares did the same at #4s, winning by the same score 6-1, 6-2
- Bergonzi came back from a loss in the opening set via tiebreak to take the next two sets 6-2 and 6-1 to earn a victory at #5s to help clinch the match
- After suffering a 6-1 loss in the opening set, Mastri won the second 6-3 and led the third 4-1 at the clinch point
