
Women’s Track and Field opens Outdoor season at 49er Classic
Charlotte, N.C. —- The Catawba College women's outdoor track and field team opened up its outdoor season on Friday at UNC Charlotte, competing in the Charlotte 49er Classic.
HOW IT HAPPENED
TRACK
100-Meter Dash
- Mallory Witherspoon earned a fifth-place finish in the 100-meter dash earning a D2-best 12.06
400-Meter Dash
- Letsi Burgos was the top finisher in the 400-meter dash, placing 12th overall with a 12.79
- Tatiana Chigwerwe finished a shade over a minute with a mark of 1:00.14, placing 22nd
1500-Meter Run
- Natalie Almond was the top Division II finisher in the 1500-meter run, placing seventh overall with a mark of 4:39.13
- Emer Mcglynn was the next Catawba finisher with a time of 4:43.84, good for 14th
- Eden Barnwell and Sydney Cockerham were Catawba's other top-30 finishers, earning 22nd- and 27th-place finishes, respectively
5K Run - Invite
- Madi Clay finished second overall in the 5K invite and the top finisher with an attached school, besting runners from Queens, USC Upstate, Charlotte and Mercer with a time of 17:01.13
FIELD
Long Jump
- Efemena Egberi was Catawba's top finisher in the long jump, placing 12th overall with a jump of 5.41 meters
