
Catawba Track & Field Wraps Up Two-Day Weekend at the Camel City Invite
WINSTON SALEM, N.C. -- On Saturday, the Catawba Track & Field team completed its two-day weekend at the Camel City Invite held at the JDL Fast Track in Winston Salem, North Carolina. Five school records were set and Catawba had five NCAA qualifiers over the weekend.
Rashaun Noble had a big weekend claiming two top 3 finishes. He finished 2nd in the 60m dash with a time of 6.83, an NCAA qualifying mark. He also claimed 3rd with a time of 8.33 in the 60m hurdles.
Samantha Payne improved on her already-claimed school record in the 400 meter run with a time of 56.76. She has entered into the Top 20 rankings in the event.
MeKayla White continued her impressive season this weekend with another NCAA Qualifying mark. She took 2nd place in the women's long jump coming in at 5.83 meters. In the triple jump, the senior took 3rd place with a leap of 11.62 meters.
In men's jumping action Javier Gomez Wilson came in 3rd with a 6.74 meter outing.
Jaylen Currence and Chandon Smith finished second and third respectively in the 400m dash. Currence ran a 50.70 and Smith a 50.47.
In the women's 400m dash, Skylar Payne came in 4th with a time of 1:00.74.
In mid-distance action, Catawba's Everette Rhymer collected a 4th place finish in the 800 meter run. The junior ran a time of 1:56.03.
Raina Andrews had an impressive performance in the 800-meter event. With a time of 2:18.99 which is the #1 time in the South Atlantic Conference.
Aislynn Reagle was Catawba women's best finisher in the distance events. She took 2nd in the women's 5000m run with a time of 17.18.67, an NCAA Qualifier performance.
On the men's distance side, Erick Ramirez ran an 8:19.17 time in the men's 3000 meters. It was another NCAA Qualifying time for Catawba.
