
Tennis wraps up Florida Spring Break trip with sweep of Eckerd
St. Petersburg, Fla. ---- The Catawba College tennis teams swept their matchups with Eckerd to conclude their Florida Spring Break trip on Monday to close out their four-match road trip to start the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
MEN'S
- Edoardo Cecere and Ryan Little kicked off the men's side with a 6-2 win in #1 doubles
- Paul Dekester and Tyler Juergens followed up with a 7-5 win to clinch the doubles point
- Taketoshi Nanao and Sebastian Zabala made it a clean sweep for the Catawba men, taking their doubles match 6-1
- Cecere won #1 singles 6-4, 6-2, while Juergens claimed a 6-2, 5-7, 6-4 win in #2 singles
- Marko Sudar won his #3 singles match 6-1, 6-3; Zabala claimed a win in #4 singles 6-4, 6-3
- Marcos Castares made it a clean sweep with a 6-3, 1-6, 10-7 win in #5 singles
WOMEN'S
- Rin Igarashi and Ami Miya micked off doubles action with a 6-4 win in the #1 match
- Veronika Poliakova and Sofia Hernandez Mera clinched the doubles point for Catawba with a 7-6 (7-4) victory
- Miya earned another #1 singles win, 7-6 (7-4), 7-5
- Isisdora Zivkovic earned a 6-3, 6-3 win in #3 singles, while Vaishnavi Venkatesh clinched the #4 singles matchup with a 6-1, 6-1 victory
- Hernandez Mera finished the day with a 6-1, 6-4 win
