
#9 Women’s Soccer draws with C-N in SAC opener
Salisbury, N.C. —- The 9th-ranked Catawba College women's soccer team played to a 2-2 draw with Carson-Newman at Frock Field to open South Atlantic Conference action on Wednesday afternoon.

- The Catawba Indians had three shots on goal to two for the Eagles
- C-N recorded the lone save of the night
- Catawba took seven of 10 corner kicks in the match

INDIVIDUAL LEADERS
- Kylie Morin scored her team-leading third goal of the season on a second-half score
- Bree Ehmer also found the back of the net for the Catawba Indians
- Maria Rayburn, Morgan Delair and Savannah Singh recorded assists on the afternoon
- Callie Hammond placed the other shot on goal for Catawba
HOW IT HAPPENED
FIRST HALF
- Headers from Rayburn and Delair found the foot of Ehmer for a Catawba score in the opening five minutes
- Catawba was called for offside six times over the next 14 minutes
- Neither side was able to get a shot off until Morin's wide attempt in the 34th minute
SECOND HALF
- The Eagles struck quickly in the second half, as Selina Jud found Savannah Fields for a quick-hitter score less than 30 seconds into the second half
- Catawba responded, as Morin's lofted shot found the back of the net off Singh's assist, restoring the Catawba Indian lead at 2-1 in the 49th minute
- A flurry of shots came from Catawba surrounding the 60th minute, but none were on frame to threaten an insurance goal
- In the 64th minute, a Carson-Newman head injury caused roughly 15 minutes of stoppage
- The Eagles converted the equalizer in the 75th minute, as Krista Neilsen's shot from the upper-right box snuck through the lower-left corner to tie the match once again at 2
- Hammond's shot in the 78th minute forced the lone save of the match from either side
- Catawba found two quality chances at the end, but Ehmer's try for a winner sailed high and a final-minute corner kick produced no late dramatics

- The all-time series moves to 22-17-7 in favor of Catawba
- Carson-Newman has not suffered defeat at Frock Field since 2011
- Ehmer's second goal of the season, 13th of career
