Milledgeville, Ga. —- The top-ranked Catawba College women's soccer team saw the nation's longest winning streak come to an end Wednesday afternoon, as the Catawba Indians fell on the road to Georgia College in non-conference NCAA women's soccer action.
TEAM STATS
- Catawba out-shot GCSU 18-9
- Each team put seven shots on goal
- The Catawba Indians held the advantage in corner kicks 9-4
INDIVIDUAL LEADERS
- Sydney Jimmo scored the lone Catawba goal on a penalty kick and added a team-high three shots on goal
- Bree Ehmer added pair of shots on target
- Lillie Rusher and Maria Rayburn were the other Catawba players to record multiple shots with two apiece
- Ashley Hughes matched a season-high with five saves in goal
HOW IT HAPPENED
FIRST HALF
- Abby Eison scored for Georgia College just over a minute into play
- Jimmo answered with a penalty kick in the fifth minute for her 17th goal of the season
- Eison came right back with a shot on goal in the sixth minute, but Hughes made the save
- Jimmo and Ehmer's shots on goal were saved in the 14th and 21st minutes
- A pair of Bobcat shots were saved by Hughes in the 39th and 40th minutes
SECOND HALF
- Morgan Delair's shot hit the post in the 49th minute and Kylie Morin's follow-up was saved
- Hughes stepped up with saves in the 62nd and 70th minutes
- Jimmo and Ehmer put shots on target within three minutes of each other, but both were saved
- Schultz broke through for the winner in the 86th minute
- Helen Summerell's try in the final minute was saved by the Bobcat keeper
