GREENEVILLE, Tenn. – Catawba scored twice in each half to post a 4-0 victory against host Tusculum in South Atlantic Conference women's soccer action on Saturday at Pioneer Field. Helen Summerell and Hannah Dunn had two goals each in helping lift the Catawba Indians to 9-0-1 overall and 3-0-1 in league play. The Pioneers drop to 4-3-1 and 0-3-1.
Summerall opened the scoring in the fifth minute, chipping home a shot from close range off a pass from Sydney Jimmo. Dunn put home her first goal just 10 minutes later from short range after quick passes from Katie Beck and Sharon Mayes.
The Lady Indians picked up another goal in the 57th minute as Summerell tapped in a cross from Dunn and Mayes. Dunn capped the scoring in the 74th minute as she put home a loose ball off a corner kick from Kasey Hahn
Sierra Davis would a pair of saves in recording the shutout. Catawba limited the Pioneers to just those two tallies on goal on their eight attempts. It marked the seventh straight shutout for Catawba.
Ten of Catawba's 12 shots were on target. Grayson Patterson had five saves for the Pioneers. The Lady Indians enjoyed a 12-2 edge in corner kicks.
Catawba returns to action on Wednesday as the ladies host Coker at 7:30 p.m.
