
Women’s Lacrosse haunted by miscues, downed by Lincoln Memorial
SALISBURY, N.C. – The Catawba College women's lacrosse team stumbled out of the gate and struggled to recover, surrendering a 16-3 decision in its South Atlantic Conference tilt with Lincoln Memorial on Saturday at Shuford Stadium.
TEAM STATS
- Catawba (5-5, 3-3 SAC) tallied 14 shots – six in the first stanza alone – while Lincoln Memorial (6-6, 3-3 SAC) ripped off 36 attempts
- LMU tracked down 26 ground balls against the hosts' 18 and held an 18-13 advantage in successful clears
- The Railsplitters forced Catawba to commit 23 turnovers, while the blue and white produced 16 takeaways
- The Catawba Indians managed an edge in draw controls by a 12-11 count
- Ava Kunza absorbed the loss for Catawba with 11 saves, rivaling the seven stops on 10 shots by LMU's Keegan Gillman
INDIVIDUAL STATS
- Emily Better stretched her scoring streak to six games with one goal as Mary Sorvillo and Grace Virginia Deal also supplied darts for the home team
- Joey Baillie chipped in an assist and racked up nine draw controls, coming one shy of the program record while tying the mark recorded by Sarah Maier and Madison Shaffer last year
- Audrey Adelsberger enjoyed a big day on defense with five ground balls and three caused turnovers
- Allison Filosa picked up four ground balls as she and Skylar Mullin each notched two takeaways
