Women’s Golf stands sixth, Carlson third through two rounds at Oldfield Intercollegiate

OKATIE, S.C. – The Catawba College women's golf is lined up for a sixth-place finish in the Oldfield Intercollegiate following Monday's opening two rounds.

Rachel Carlson recorded the best round of her junior campaign with a 70 in the opener, powering her way to T-3rd at 149 (+5) just four shots behind the leader. Sara Kristinsdottir carded 78-78 to get inside the top 20 at T-19th with a 156 (+12). Mary-Paige King slots T-32nd at 160 (+16), highlighted by her first-round 77 with three birdies.

Taya Buxton wiped eight shots off her score in the opener, going out on a 164 (+20) with both performances factoring into the team tally. Emily Rosenschein rounds out the Catawba squad with 184 shots (+40) heading into the last round. Valentina Moran went 86-82 while Hannah Waddell had the same scores in the opposite order, placing T-59th at 168 (+24) as individuals.

The Catawba Indians stack up sixth, trailing three top-50 Division II programs and two top-five non-NCAA schools with a team score of 629 (+53).

Eastern Florida State College and SCAD Savannah are knotted for the lead at 611 (+35) as the Bees caught up in the second round using an 11-under. EFSC's Mila Tang currently leads the field with a 145 (+1) individual score as Limestone's Karla Lagerstrom went 74-74 (218, +4), seeking a podium with Carlson in third.

The final round commences with a shotgun start at tomorrow at 8:30 a.m.
