Women’s Golf places 10th in Space Coast Collegiate

VIERA, Fla. – The Catawba College women's golf team chalked up a 10th-place finish at the Space Coast Collegiate Championship, the first of two events hosted by the program this spring, as proceedings wrapped up Tuesday.

Recording a squad-best 76 in the third round, Rachel Carlson birdied twice en route to finishing T-18th at 228 (+12). Mary-Paige King made par through her last 11 holes to take a share of 26th place, totaling 230 shots (+14) following her round-three 78.

Sara Kristinsdottir started and finished with a bird on Tuesday, scoring an 82 to place T-44th with a 239 (+23). Taya Buxton chalked up a 79, chopping six strokes off her second-round score and rising five spots, to cap the event at 247 (+31) and slot 55th. Emily Rosenschein rounded out Catawba's five-player stable in 57th after logging a third-round 84 for 251 total strokes (+35).

Hannah Waddell placed 61st with a final score of 256 (+40), completing her second career tournament using an 86 in Round 3. Also competing as an individual, Valentina Moran clocked in at 271 (+55) to stack up 65th.

After starting the day in 11th place, the Catawba Indians recorded a 315 in the final round to leapfrog SEU with a 54-hole score of 941 (+77).

Haruka Muta and Maria Torres Lobato went one-two for Nova Southeastern as the Sharks held an 18-shot advantage over the field, winning the team title at 869 (+3). Lynn and Tampa shared the runner-up distinction with team scores of 887 (+23). Muta put together a third-round 69, one of the event's two sub-70 rounds, to cruise away with medalist honors as the lone under-par player at 212 (-4).
