King pars, helps Women's Golf to 12th through two rounds at Savannah Lakes Invite

MCCORMICK, S.C. – Mary-Paige King closed the Catawba College women's golf team's first day at the Savannah Lakes Fall Invitational with her first career par round Monday, lifting the blue and white to 12th place with one round to go.

King's 72 was the ninth-best mark of the second round as she ended the day T-19th with a score of 150 (+6). Taya Buxton finished with a 159 two-round total – 15-over par – to stand T-50th. Rachel Carlson and Maddy Vogan each tallied 162 strokes (+18) to share 61st while Emily Rosenschein rounded out the lineup with a 170 (+26).

Playing as an individual, Valentina Moran had her best collegiate round with a 78 in the opener before concluding the day at 163 (+19) in T-64th place.

With three players residing in the top 10, 12th-ranked Lee possesses an eight-shot lead in team standings at 583. North Georgia is second with a 591 overall score followed by No. 19 Lander (597) whose Kajsa Lundqvist tops the 85-player field at 141, three strokes under par.

The final round of action at Monticello Golf Club commences tomorrow at 9 a.m.
