
King rises on Day 2; Women's Golf finishes 13th in Meredith Insurance Associates Fall Invitational
GREENWOOD, S.C. – The Catawba College women's golf team began its season with a 13th-place finish at the Meredith Insurance Associates Fall Invitational.
Mary-Paige King soared up the leaderboard using a five-over par third round to place T-42nd with 243 strokes (+27). Taya Buxton finished T-51st at 245 (+29), followed closely by Rachel Carlson (T-58th, +31) and Maddy Vogan (T-61st, +32). After shooting 12-over in the first 18, Valentina Moran (+43) concluded her collegiate golf debut in T-80th.
South Atlantic Conference foes Wingate (-2) and Anderson (+3) topped the team leaderboard by a 33-shot margin. Lander (+36) had a pair of golfers finish at five-over to land in third place as Carson-Newman (+66) and Tusculum (+81) also scored top-five placements.
The Catawba Indians will be back in action on Sep. 23 and 24 at the Savannah Lakes Fall Invitational hosted by Lander in McCormick, S.C.
