
Women's Golf battles in Round 2 of SAC Championships
Salisbury, N.C. – The Catawba College Women's Golf team continued postseason play on Monday, returning to the Salisbury Country Club for the second day of action at the South Atlantic Conference Championships. Catawba would notch a solid +22, 306 as a team in the second round that now has the side T-4th with an overall score of +40, 608 heading into the third and final round on Tuesday
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Chloe Crane finished Monday T-13th among individuals with an overall ledger of +8, 150 after carding a +5, 76 in the second round. After sinking 15 pars in the first round, Crane was excellent again over the front-nine on Monday as he tallied a birdie and six more pars as part of a +1, 36 start. Her back-nine would prove to be more difficult, as she opened with pars on four of five holes but hit a tough patch beginning on the 15th hole for a +4, 40 closing stretch
- Emily Wellspeak climbed several spots to a T-15th standing following a second round that saw her notch a +2, 73 for an overall score of +9, 151. Wellspeak was lights-out to start Monday, nailing eight-straight pars before capping off the front-nine with a birdie as part of a -1, 34 opening frame. She'd add six more pars over the back-nine as part of a +3, 39 second half in some of her best play of the season
- Maddy Vogan ended the second round T-24th at +12, 154 after a +8, 79 ledger on Monday. Vogan's solid form from Monday continued to start the second round, as she holed seven pars to begin the day with a +2, 37 in the opening stretch after having 14 on day one. However, she'd hit a rough patch over the back nine following a three-par start
- Mary-Paige King concluded play on Monday T-29th at +13, 155 as she carded a +7, 78 in round two. King's second round was nearly identical to her first, as she endured a tricky start but emerged to play excellent golf over the back-nine in the form of a +1, 37 that featured a birdie and seven pars
- Lauren Hackler was right alongside King at +13, 155 following the second round as she finished with a +8, 79 on Monday. Hackler opened the day with a strong start, sinking a pair of birdies and four pars as part of a +1, 36 front-nine, but encountered a challenging back-nine

- Catawba's mark of 53 pars was tied for the second-most among all teams in the second round
- Wellspeak's mark of -1/2.75 on Par 3s was tied for third-best among individuals, while her 14 pars on Monday would also be tied for the third-highest tally
- Four Catawba players notched double-digit par totals on Monday
