Foskey earns WePlayed Sports SAC Women’s Basketball Player of the Week

Rock Hill, S.C. —- Catawba senior forward Janiya Foskey earned WePlayed Sports South Atlantic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the second time this season, the league office announced Monday afternoon.

Foskey averaged 23.5 points per game across two wins for Catawba this week, adding eight rebounds per contest and shooting 69 percent from the field.

The Greenville, N.C. native stepped up her game when it mattered most, with 25 of her 47 points on the week coming in the fourth quarter alone. With Catawba leading Newberry by four heading into the fourth quarter on Wednesday, Foskey led the team to the eight-point win with a 15-point period, while adding 10 points in the fourth quarter in the Catawba Indians' win over Tusculum on Saturday.

Foskey has stepped into her expanded role this season, now averaging a team-leading 12.6 points and 7.4 rebounds per game, helping Catawba to a current fourth-place mark in the SAC standings. She has scored in double figures in each of the last six games with five 20-point games on the season.

Foskey and the Catawba Indians return to action on Saturday after having the midweek off this week, hosting Anderson inside Goodman Arena for a 2 p.m. start.
