
PREVIEW: Women’s Basketball faces SAC road test at league-leader Wingate
Wingate, N.C. —- The Catawba College women's basketball team travels on the road for the first time in 2025 on Wednesday, facing league-leader Wingate in a matchup between two of the top four teams in the South Atlantic Conference.

- Wingate leads the series 66-43
- The Catawba Indians are 17-34 in Cuddy Arena against the Bulldogs
- McCutcheon is 6-3 against Wingate as Catawba's head coach; his first career game was the 59-48 win over the Bulldogs in February 2020
JANIYA IS THE FOS-KEY
- Janiya Foskey was named the WePlayed Sports SAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week after scoring a career-high 28 points in the win over Mars Hill on Saturday
- She shot 7-for-10 from the field and 14-for-17 from the free throw line in the win
- Foskey has recorded three 20-point games to this point this season, her first 20-point games in her collegiate career; the 28-point outing is the most points scored by a Catawba player in a game this season
FAB FRESHMAN
- Freshman Bailee Goodlett enters the Wingate game with a seven-game active streak of scoring in double figures
- Goodlett currently ranks as the second leading scoring freshman in the SAC, just 0.7 points per game behind Anderson's Rose Gravel
- The Salisbury native's 53.8 percent from three-point range is good for best in the league
LONG-STANDING SAC FOES
- Wingate is Catawba's most-played opponent in program history
- Despite all the games played and the teams being successful around the same time, the two have never met in the NCAA Tournament
- The programs have combined to win each of the last three SAC regular season titles
SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS
- Wingate is 8-1 in SAC play, but have the meat of their league schedule ahead of them – the Bulldogs have played just two games against SAC opponents with a .500 or better win percentage in conference play
- One of many breakout players in the SAC this year, Lia Anderson leads the team with 15.5 points and 8.3 rebounds per game
- Just last season, Anderson started in just two games for the Bulldogs, averaging 5.3 points per game
