
Softball splits penultimate SAC DH at UVA Wise
Wise, Va. —- The Catawba College softball forced a split with UVA Wise in game two of a twinbill with the Cavaliers on the road in South Atlantic Conference action on Saturday.

- Lindsey Polan's second homer of the game made it a 7-0 lead

- Hales broke up the shutout with a one-out homer in the seventh

HOW IT HAPPENED
FIRST INNING
- Hales brought in two in scoring position in the first with a one-out single to right center
- UVA Wise's Mallory McKnight got one back with an RBI double with one out in the bottom half
SECOND INNING
- Adyson Gibson's two-run single through the right side gave the Cavaliers a 3-2 lead in the second
THIRD INNING
- Hales beat out an infield single to the shortstop with two outs in the third to tie the game
- A two-out throwing error allowed Catawba to take the lead, 4-3
SEVENTH INNING
- Gallagher's RBI triple in the top of the seventh provided a run of insurance
UP NEXT
- Catawba returns to Whitley Field on Wednesday, hosting USC Aiken in a rain makeup; first pitches are scheduled for 2 and 4 p.m.
