
Gallagher mashes three home runs for Softball’s split at Brianna Surrento Classic
Greenwood, S.C. —- The Catawba College softball team traveled to Greenwood, S.C. on Saturday to participate in the 2025 Brianna Surrento Kickoff Classic hosted by Lander University and split a pair, defeating Rollins before falling to the host Bearcats
GAME ONE | Catawba 8, Rollins 5
TEAM STATISTICS
- Rollins out-hit Catawba 7-5
- Both teams recorded two extra-base hits; Catawba had both homers

HOW IT HAPPENED
FIRST INNING
- An error extended Catawba's first inning, which allowed Altier's two-run homer to get Catawba on the board 2-0
- Christina Brendle drove a runner home on a single up the middle to push the lead to 3-0
- Another Rollins error allowed the Catawba Indians to score again, leading 4-0
SECOND INNING
- A single and two walks loaded the bases for Catawba in the second
- Gallagher's one-out grand slam to left doubled the Catawba Indian lead to 8-0
THIRD INNING
- Rollins got on the board with a two-RBI single in the third
FOURTH INNING
- A double steal added another run for the Tars in the fourth, cutting their deficit to 8-5
FIFTH INNING
- Two RBI singles in the fifth cut the Catawba lead to 8-5, but Baquie re-entered the game and closed the final 2.1 innings out to earn Catawba's fifth straight win

- Gallagher homered to lead off the second
THIRD INNING
- Lander's two-out homer returned their lead to two runs in the third
FOURTH INNING
- Gallagher homered again down the left field line to lead off the fourth
- The Bearcats scored seven runs in the bottom half of the first to put them in position to earn the mercy-rule win after five innings
UP NEXT
- Catawba's original home opener scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 11 has been moved to Monday, March 24 due to incoming weather
- Their next action is now scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 15, where they'll host Shippensburg for a doubleheader at Whitley Field
