Men’s Volleyball surrenders tight battle at Belmont Abbey

BELMONT, N.C. — The Catawba College men's volleyball team fell to Belmont Abbey, 3-1, in a neck-and-neck affair at the Wheeler Center on Wednesday night.

 

TEAM STATS

- Catawba (12-9) put together a respectable .291 hitting percentage against Belmont Abbey's (13-8) .363 clip

- Although the Crusaders had a 5-3 edge in service aces, they also had more errors by a 17-15 margin

- The blue and white recorded 9.5 total blocks but endured three block errors, while The Abbey racked up 13 blocks with no miscues

- The Crusaders finished with marginal advantages in reception percentage (.959-.938) and digs (29-28)

 

INDIVIDUAL STATS

- Trevor Phillips headlined the Catawba Indians with 21 kills on a .410 attacking clip

- Eli Zdonek registered 12 kills while enjoying a busy day on defense with seven digs and two blocks

- Cam Reeder served up a pair of service aces as Wyatt Eastin landed one

- Kristian Smith logged 45 assists and five digs, while Max Adkisson chipped in a team-high eight digs and three dimes

- Eastin made five stops at the net, offensively supplying six kills on seven kills with no errors for an .857 outing
