4x100 team claims WePlayed Sports SAC Men’s Track Athletes of the Week

Rock Hill, S.C. —- The Catawba College men's 4x100 relay team of Brendan Henby, Miles Stephens, Darius Turner and Winfred Porter was named the WePlayed Sports South Atlantic Conference Men's Track Athletes of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday morning.

The group made history on Saturday at the Charlotte 49er Classic, setting a school record and the current fastest mark in the country in the 4x100 relay with a time of 40.03.

Catawba finished first in the event at the meet, nosing ahead of host Charlotte, while already reaching the provisional mark for the NCAA DII Outdoor Championships in May.

The group featured two runners that appeared in the championship final in the 60-meter dash at this month's NCAA Indoor Championships in Stephens and Porter.

The Catawba Indians return to action this week, splitting between the Davidson and Raleigh Relays starting on Thursday.
