
Track and Field closes action at DI Pre-Nationals
Virginia Beach, Va. —- The Catawba College indoor track and field team completed action at the Division I Pre-Nationals meet at Virginia Beach on Saturday.
HOW IT HAPPENED
200 Meter Dash
- Efe Egberi was the top Catawba finisher in the 200-meter dash, finishing 26th with a time of 26.01
- Darius Turner was the lone top-20 finisher in the 200-meter dash for the men, finishing 17th with a mark of 22.01
3000 Meter Run
- Natalie Almond was victorious in the 3K, setting a new personal best with a time of 9:57.15, good for the third best time in school history
- Sydney Cockerham placed sixth with a mark of 10:32.07
- Will Lyons finished third in the men's 3K, setting the second-fastest time in program history with an 8:24.30; Oussama Ajala was right behind him with a fourth-place 8:29.15 and Anthony Lecorche added a top-10 finish with a mark of 8:46.86
High Jump
- Haleigh Washington and Lilly Wolf reached 1.42 meters in the high jump, finishing in a tie for eighth
- Namaurion Koontz finished in a tie for third in the men's high jump, reaching 1.95 meters
Triple Jump
- Chris Brown placed 12th in the triple jump with a mark of 12.57 meters
Shot Put
- Jacob Scannell earned a top-20 place in the men's shot put, reaching 11.69 meters
- Wolf finished 14th in the shot put on the women's side, throwing 10.87 meters
