
Jones sets SAC Indoor record in Day one at SAC Championships
Winston-Salem, N.C. – The Catawba College Men's and Women's Track and Field teams opened the first day of action at the South Atlantic Conference Indoor Championships strong, headlined by Mikayla Jones toppling a SAC Indoor record and several others earning top-five finishes across the board

-Zamearea Simpsonbroke the Catawba Indoor Track and Field record for fastest 60m Hurdles time, clocking in at 9.05 seconds en-route to a fifth-place finish in the women's heat. The previous record, held by Gianna Gutierrez, had been 10.10
400M
- Onii Bivensclaimed sixth-place for the women with a time of 59.10

- Charity Davies took 10th in the women's heat with a time of 5:31.97
- For the men, Erick Ramirez would finish fourth after clocking in at 4:15.00, .67 of a second ahead of the fifth-place mark.
DMR
- In the women's heat, Catawba's team of Sydney Cockerham, Sanaia Hill, Davies, and Raina Andrews earned a second-place finish with a combined time of 12:33.35
- For the men, a team of Anthony Lecorche, Jordan Grant, Seth Caudill, and Will Lyonswould place sixth with a time of 10:30.97
5000M
- Jones cruised to victory in the women's heat, setting the record for the fastest women's 5000m time ever at the SAC Indoor Championships and cementing herself as the Conference Indoor champion in the event with a time of 16:52.45. Jones' time 14.17 seconds faster than the second place effort and 25.28 faster than the third place effort, while also shattering the Catawba program record of 17:18.67, previously held by Aislynn Reagle. Madi Clay made it an All-Catawba top-two, clocking in at 17:06.62 for a comfortable finish behind Jones. Rachel Overby took 17th place with a time of 19:42.49
- Catawba was well represented in the men's heat, with eight runners competing overall. They would be led by Oussama Ajala, who finished eighth with a time of 14:42.16, and EJ Threatt, right behind Ajala in ninth at 14:57.15. They were joined by Stefan Lauchner (11th, 15:10.53), Brannon Burns (15:11.31), Andrew Whitehead (15th, 15:26.56), James Shue(17th, 15:34.49), Michael Martinez (20th, 15:42.82), and Eddie Urban (24th, 16:00.14)

Long Jump
- In the women's competition, Efemena Egberiearned fourth-place with a jump of 5.58m. Haleigh Washington would take 20th, coming in at 4.45m
- For the men, Javier Gomez-Wilson claimed second-place with a 7.10m effort. Chris Brown joined Gomez-Wilson in the top-10, taking 10th place with a jump of 6.58m while Drew Costello took 23rd, coming in at 6.17m
