
Catawba Men’s Track and Field finish First at the Electric City Invite; Women finish Third
Anderson, S.C.-- The Catawba track and field competed at this year's Electric City Invite hosted by the Anderson University Trojans. The men would bring home the first place finish out of the twenty-five teams competing at the event. The women finished in third place while breaking three school records.
Everette Rhymer finished in first place to claim the men's 800m with a time of 1:51.50.
Erick Ramirez continued his season's success in the men's 1500m. He claimed the event win with a time of 3:54.94.
Oussama Ajala claimed another event win for the men's side winning the 10,0000m with a time of 32:30.85.
Rashaun Noble, Barja Walter, and Nazir Reid went two three four in the men's 100m dash collecting 19 points for the team. Noble ran a 10.57 in the event. Noble would also finish second in the 110 hurdles with a time of 15.30.
Freshman Nazir Reid finished in the top three in the men's 200m running a 21.73. Teammate Justin Glaze would come in fifth with a time of 21.88.
Chandon Smith took home third place in the men's 400 hurdles with a time of 55.48
The men's 4 x 100 team would secure an NCAA Provisional mark and the first-place finish in the event. A team consisting of Glaze, Reid, Noble, and Barja Walter ran a 40.71 in the victory.
The women's side of the 4 x 100 would also see a successful day as they would break the school record and claim the first-place event win. Onii Bivens, Efemena Egberi, Kierra Jones and Samantha Payne ran the event for Catawba.
Samantha Payne claimed the women's 200m securing an NCAA provisional mark and a new school record with a finish of 24.09.
Raina Andrews claimed the second event win and the second school of the day on the women's side when she took to the track for the 800m. She finished with a time of 2:10.91 which gave her an NCAA provisional mark.
Skylar Payne clinched the second-place finish in the women's 400m hurdles.
Madison Clay would finish second in the women's 1500m. She ran a time of 4:47.48.
Efemena Egberi finished third in the women's long jump jumping a mark of 5.62m.
