Bio
Mic Moore enters his second season as the Head coach of the Catawba College Men’s and Women’s programs in 2023-24.
In his first season at the helm in 2022-23, Moore guided the Women’s team to a 14-7 season after going 6-13 the year prior. Under his coaching they were ranked in the ITA poll for the first time in program history, debuting at No. 48 and being slotted as high as No. 32 before finishing the season No. 33 in the nation. They also earned three wins over ITA ranked teams, defeating No. 45 Lincoln Memorial, No. 45 Lenoir-Rhyne, and No. 31 Anderson.
In his debut season at Catawba, Moore helped produce three All-SAC selections, with Ami Miya being named Third-Team in Singles and the tandem of Carolina Correia and Sofia Hernandez both earning Second-Team Doubles recognition. Correia and Hernandez posted the sixth-most doubles win in a season in Catawba history, with 16.
Named the Head Men's and Women's Tennis Coach in August of 2022, Moore came to Catawba after serving as the Head Tennis Coach at Montreat College since the spring of 2019. He had also served as the Assistant Tennis Coach at his alma mater, Union College, for two seasons.
When Moore arrived at Montreat, the women's tennis team had a conference losing streak of 31 straight matches. In his first season, Moore led the women's team to the AAC Conference Tournament for the first time in program history and won the conference title in the same year (2021). The women's team then repeated as AAC Champions in 2022.
Under Moore's direction the Montreat women's team also made it to the NAIA National Tournament in back-to-back seasons, 2021 and 2022. In 2022 The Cavaliers would make it all the way to the National Semifinals in Moore's second full season as head coach.
On the men's side, Moore led Montreat to the AAC Championship, a first-round bye at the NAIA National Championships, and helped coach the program's first NAIA All-American in 2022.
Moore was recognized for his impressive turnaround of the program as he earned two AAC Coach of the Year accolades in 2021 and 2022.
During his time with Montreat, Moore coached 12 All-Americans, 25 all-conference performers, and led the women to a top-ten ranking in NAIA. His men's team finished the 2022 season with a 3.48 team GPA, and the women finished with a 3.97, both were the highest by any team on campus.
Prior to coaching, Moore was a four-year player at Union College where he also served as the team captain from 2014 until 2017.
