Eight from Tennis earn CSC Academic All-District honors

Greenwood, Ind. —- Eight student-athletes from the Catawba College men's and women's tennis teams were named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC)'s Academic All-District teams, the organization announced Tuesday.

On the men's side, Marcos Castares, Edoardo Cecere, Paul Dekester and Ryan Little were named Academic All-District, while Sofia Hernandez Mera, Ami Miya, Veronika Poliakova and Vaishnavi Venkatesh earned CSC Academic All-District honors on the women's side.

To qualify for the list, the student-athlete must have competed in 90% or started in 66% of games for the season and achieve a 3.5 GPA. The 2023 Academic All-District® Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field or court and in the classroom. Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First, second and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in early June.
