
Men’s, Women’s Tennis split at North Greenville in season opener
Tigerville, S.C. —- The Catawba College women's tennis team defeated North Greenville in their season opener on Friday, but the men fell just short, 4-3 in NCAA tennis action.
HOW IT HAPPENED
WOMEN'S
- After dropping the doubles point, the team bounced back with a 6-2, 6-2 win for Anna Wise in #1 singles
- Ami Miya took the #2 singles match 6-4, 4-6, 6-3
- Matilde Moretti swept the #3 singles 6-4, 6-4
- Catawba clinched the match with Vaishnavi Venkatesh's win 7-5, 4-6, 10-8
- Isidora Zivkovic won #5 singles 6-4, 7-6
- Veronika Poliakova made it a clean sweep with a 6-4, 6-3 win in #6 singles
MEN'S
- Edoardo Cecere and Ryan Little claimed their doubles match 6-3
- Tyler Juergens and Paul Dekester clinched the doubles point with a 6-4 win
- Sebastian Zabala and Taketoshi Nanao made it a clean sweep with a 6-3 doubles win
- Cecere dominated in #1 singles, 6-0, 6-1
- Marko Sudar picked up a win in #6 singles 7-6, 6-4
