
Swimming competes in Day 2 of SAC Championships
Greensboro, N.C. —- The Catawba College men's and women's swim teams completed day two of the South Atlantic Conference Swimming Championships at the Greensboro Aquatic Center on Thursday evening.
HOW IT HAPPENED
100 YARD BUTTERFLY
- Brinkley Watson was the top finisher for Catawba, finishing in sixth with a time of 57.05
- Rebecca Possenti, Jolina Franke, Alix Henras-Marouf and Diamond Mosley rounded out Catawba's showing with 12th, 13th, 15th and 22nd-place finishes, respectively
- Balazs Meszaros was the top Catawba Indian on the men's side, finishing seventh with a time of 49.26
- Nolan Lacjak, Rowan Viles, Marshall Wells and Kyle Rock were 14th, 22nd, 23rd and 24th, respectively
400 YARD INDIVIDUAL MEDLEY
- Gabi Moll was Catawba's representative in the championship heat, placing sixth with a time of 4:37.25
- Berta Vidal Carnero, Alana Derringer, Lillie Martin and Laurel Keasler were 11th, 16th, 18th and 21st, respectively
- Joao Oliveira finished in fourth on the men's side with a time of 4:01.98
- Alejandro Alvarez also represented Catawba in the championship heat, finishing seventh with a time of 4:08.96
- Enrique Rodriguez, Rodrigo Yus Fernandez, Leon Heiermann also competed – Heiermann bested his prelim time by over seven seconds
200 YARD FREESTYLE
- Marit Reckmann and Ella Gutenwik competed in the championship heat of the 200 free, finishing fifth and seventh, respectively
- Hannah Koopmans won the B heat, finishing ninth and Ash Fortin, Fiona Byrne, Taylor Wilson and Kenzie Perifoy rounding out Catawba's showing
- Ryan Case was featured in the championship heat, finishing eighth; Isaac Haut, Elias Hysing and Lewis Mikesell finished 11th, 13th and 15th, respectively
400 YARD MEDLEY RELAY
- Catawba's team of Fortin, Moll, Possenti and Henras-Marouf placed third with a time of 3:53.59
- The men also finished third, as Lacjak, Viles, Meszaros and Maks Minichowski completed the event in 3:19.90

- The SAC Championships carries on through Friday, with prelims starting at 10 a.m. and the finals beginning at 5 p.m.
