Men's Golf finishes eighth at WWU Invitational; Antoniadis records first career top 10

BELLINGHAM, Wash. – The Catawba College men's golf team collected an eighth-place finish at the Western Washington University Invitational at Bellingham Golf & Country Club.

Ilia Antoniadis put the final touch on a solid performance with a three-under par score of 69 in the final round, totaling 211 (-5) to land T-7th out of 71 participants. Coming into Tuesday seven shots over par, Paul Esnault made the third round his best with a 69 to place T-32nd at 220 (+4).

Pranay Kapur also recorded a cumulative score of 220 as Connor Carter delivered a 73 on day two to complete the event in T-48th (226, +10). Allan Lockwood rounded out the Catawba stable with a third-round 75, capturing T-55th using a score of 229 (+13).

Colorado Christian hung on to its day-one lead to prevail in team competition at 827 (-37). Canadian program Simon Fraser placed three individuals in the top 20 to card 853 (-11) and take the runner-up slot while Chico State, Colorado Mesa, and Western Washington completed the event knotted at 861 (-3). Xavier Bighaus of CCU (203, -13), Giulio Zanichelli of the Academy of Art (205, -11), and Sangha Park of CCU (206, -10) made up the individual podium.

The Catawba Indians return home for the Richard Rendleman Invitational at The Country Club of Salisbury on Oct. 7 and 8.
