Esnault claims first WePlayed Sports Golfer of the Week award

ROCK HILL, S.C. – After winning the Malone-Glenmoor Fall Invitational to start his sophomore campaign, Paul Esnault of the Catawba College men's golf team was named the WePlayed Sports Golfer of the Week per South Atlantic Conference announcement Wednesday.

The Caen, France native captured his first collegiate title in last week's season opener at Glenmoor Country Club, topping the field of 78 competitors hailing mostly from the Midwest. Each of Esnault's rounds were under par, highlighted by a second-round 67 (-5) that pushed him to the front. Esnault's birdie putt on the 18th hole extended his margin of victory to five shots while moving the Catawba Indians into second place in team standings.

Esnault snapped the program's 54-hole tournament record for sophomores with 208 strokes at eight-under par. In 11 collegiate events, he has seven top-10 finishes, 30 sub-75 rounds including his first two in the 60s, and a 73.24 stroke average.

Catawba is back in action on Sep. 30 and Oct. 1 at the Bearcat Classic in Greenville, S.C.
