Esnault wins Malone-Glenmoor Invite; Men's Golf bags second-place finish
CANTON, Ohio – Paul Esnault recorded the best 54-hole tournament performance by a sophomore in Catawba College men's golf history to claim the Malone-Glenmoor Fall Invitational crown on Tuesday. As a team, the Catawba Indians collected a runner-up finish to start the 2024 season on a high note.
Esnault completed the event in 208 strokes to stand at eight-under par, finishing with a five-shot lead. The Caen, France native etches his name into the program record book with the second-best stroke and against-par marks in 54 holes.
Ilia Antoniadis and Allan Lockwood tied for 14th with a score of 222 (+6) in their first outing at Catawba. Top-50 finishes from Luke Nelson (241, +25) and Ryan Masterton (243, +27) contributed to the team's strong performance as Connor Carter (248, +32) rounded out the Catawba representatives in 56th.
Lewis logged 888 strokes (+24) to emerge victorious in team competition. Esnault's birdie putt on the 18th hole allowed Catawba (890, +26) to overtake Hillsdale (891, +27) on the podium. Pitt-Johnstown and Ohio Dominican wrapped up the invitational in fourth and fifth place, respectively.
Catawba continues its fall slate at the Bearcat Fall Classic on Sep. 30 and Oct. 1 at The Preserve at Verdae in Greenville, S.C.
